I Got Beef...with My Diapers

Well here we are Mid December, Reagan is 5 and a half months old and she has rolled over all of 3 or 4 times....I'm super over the moon in love with my cloth diapers BUT I have realized that they are stunting her mobility.

I really noticed a couple weeks ago that when I change her diaper and give her a few nakie minutes that she does all these crazy leg movements that she isn't capable of when her diapers are on. Because the band of the diapers are so wide her little hips can't make the same range of motion. The weight of the diapers is also an issue, they are much heavier than disposables, especially after they have been peed in once or twice. Since disposables have the magically wonderful chemicals that turn the pee into a dry fluff they remain almost weightless.

Like I said, I noticed this a few weeks back...and since then I've been saying "I need to just put her in disposables for awhile so that she can gain mobility" well I always revert back to the cloth. One because I freakin love the cloth, I'm in the cloth groove, got my routine down. Love Love Love my cloth. Two because disposables are not cheap.

But after learning that one of my Besties beautiful bouncing baby boy who is 3 weeks younger than Reag is a rolling and crawling machine I had major mobility envy. Not that I am ready to baby proof our home, but I don't want to be the cause of Reagan's slow progression. So, I marched right out the door for a box of diaps and a couple packs of wipes.

By the way, I know my theory is true because on the off chance that I've put her in a disposable the little stink rolls right over.

So we are on a new adventure for a while, it might be a couple weeks, maybe a couple months...but I'll do it until I feel like she is strong enough to get around with the cloth on.

Five Months

My beautiful daughter,

Another month has flown by and you are one month bigger, stronger and smarter. We have had a pretty exciting month, spent Thanksgiving in Marysville at Aunt Jenni's and Uncle Mark's, it was so nice to finally introduce you to some extended family on Daddy's side.

You have started giggling this month, your sweet little breathy laugh captures my heart every time. You are now strong enough to sit up by yourself, although sometimes you topple over when you are trying to reach for a toy that is just out of reach. We have upgraded you to a 'big girl tub' so bath time is much more fun for you, you spend time splashing and grabbing at your rubber duckies.

Feeding you has been fun this last month, you hate apples, love avocado and tolerate bananas. And we are still giving you rice cereal at least once a day.

Can I just say, I cannot believe you are five months already. Where did the time go? Every morning when I get you from your crib you are heavier and older. You are growing so fast that I wish I could video your every movement so that I can relive these days down the road when I feel robbed of my little baby.

You bear more weight on your legs and can stand for longer periods of time. With some help and balance you are able to go from laying down - to sitting - to standing. And are very happy with yourself when you do.

Your big gummy grin is almost always making an appearance and it is my most favorite thing in the world.

I thought for sure you would have a tooth by now, you are constantly chewing on anything you get your hands on, including your hands.

We are looking forward to your first Christmas and the first snow!

I am so thankful that you are a healthy and happy baby.

Love you sweet girl,

XOXO

Momma

Four Months

My big sweet growing baby,

What a big girl you are! This month you have started sleeping in your crib and have been sleeping through the night on a regular basis. You have grown out of your 3 month clothes and are in size 2 disposable diapers.

We moved our little family to Western Washington this past month because Daddy got a new job. You and I have been getting lots of time together while he is away in Portland training. Packing and moving with you has been trying at times, but I make sure that your needs come first and that you get the attention you deserve.

Being closer to Nana has been such a blessing since daddy has been gone, she even watched you so I could run some errands, I count this as your first babysitting. It will be great to have her so close to help out and watch you grow.

This month you tried rice cereal for the first time! You weren't too sure at first, but you are getting the hang of it! If you're anything like mommy and daddy you will have eating down in no time flat!

We took a trip to the pumpkin patch, and I even dressed you up for Halloween! It will be lots of fun next year when you can actively participate in the festivities! But I took full advantage this year since you cant tell me "no" yet! Sticking you in a pumpkin was for sure a photo-op I couldn't pass up!

You rolled over for the first time, although I now think it was more of a fluke because you haven't done it since. You are starting to tolerate "tummy time" more and more, and have lots more independent time by yourself to play. Still haven't mastered the jenny jump up, but like to sit in it and move around.

Everyday you seem older and smarter, I love watching you progress and develop. Your little personality is showing more and more and even daddy has admitted that this has been the best month yet! We have really gotten into the groove of things and are feeling more comfortable and confident everyday. You have made us stronger better people. You are amazing.

We love you so much baby girl.

Xoxo,

Mommy

Pumpkin Pictures!

In the spirit of Reagan's first Halloween, I decided to stick her in a pumpkin!

We were able to catch her attention for a few good shots, but most of the 123 pictures are of her gumming the front of the pumpkin.

She loved the grass blades between her toes and kept crinkling her toes up to feel them.

I will definitely be getting some of these printed to use as Fall decorations next year! Have you ever seen a sweeter baby?!

Pumpkin Patch Fun!

In the spirit of Fall, us Austin's loaded into the car and drove to Grandview to Bill's Berry Farm for their Fall Festival. We had SO much fun!! This time of year they have U-Pick Apples and Pumpkins, in anticipation of introducing solids soon I wanted to take advantage.

They had BBQ, live music, cider pressing, hay rides, petting zoo...yadda yadda watching all the little screaming children running around made me very excited to see Reagan running and jumping around.

Here are some pictures, I wish I could post them all!

Three Months

My Sweet Sweet Baby,

This month of your life has been busy! You grow and learn everyday, I love seeing your eyes light up as you see and experience new things.

You had your first hotel stay this past month when we went to Miss Danna's wedding in Coeur D' Alene, and you had your first of many trips to Pullman we of course stopped at 'Cougar Country' for a big cheesy burger! GO COUGS!!

I had a blast shopping for your Fall clothes, you got lots of long sleeves and pants! They are 6 and 9 month size, you are such a big healthy girl!

You have started to sleep longer at night, even slept through the night a couple times! Usually get up to eat about 4 am. You are a veracious eater, still nursing every 2-3 hours during the day.

You give us lots of smiles now and are a very happy baby! I keep saying it, but this month I am going to transition you from your bedside sleeper to your crib.

You are a very active talker! Telling us stories and talking to your friends, Sophie Bunny, Dingle Bear and Mr. Ceiling Fan.

I would say your eyes have completely turned brown, big brown eyes like mommy. Your hair has gotten longer and darker. I love how you sneeze in sets of three, every single time.

Reagan, you continue to show daddy and I how to be good patient parents. I can honestly say I love every minute of being home with you. You show me how important every passing second is. We love you sweet girl.

XOXO,

Your Mommy.
