Weekending

Wow. What an awesome weekend we had! I guess it's more of a half week than a weekend, Cody got home early Wednesday morning and we were non stop busy. Until now of course, the house has quieted and all the visitors are gone - so I figured I would throw some pictures at you while I watch the hawks.

We built a fire pit!!

We used it Saturday night and it was SO great!! Love it! I can see many a mallows being roasted over this beauty.

I put the garden to rest. What a disappointment this year was. With the big ass tree we have in our yard the garden bed doesn't get nearly enough sun. So - it gone. Next year I will stick to planting in pots so that I can control their sun and water exposure better. Live and learn.

We had a little birthday gathering for Cody's birthday! 29 and holding!

And just to keep our picture ratio even...

So what prey-tell will we do with the garden bed?? Feast your eyes::!!

It will make the perfect little play area for the girls! At least the shade will keep the girls protected from the sun and heat in the Summer. I really went back and forth between buying a plastic play house and building one. But since this is our "starter home" we figured that we would save our more elaborate play house plans for our next home. For now this is a great little house for the girls. We also have a picnic table and other riff-raff to add to their area. I can totally see Christmas lights on it this Winter and cute little potted flowers this Spring. FUN!

When Cody gets home for good (2 WEEKS!) We'll make a trip to get a truck load of gravel to layer on top of the plastic weed sheeting.

I can't wait to watch both girls play in it next Summer, but for now Reagan is having a blast in it!! I'll be sure to post pictures when it's a finished project.

Reagan say wha? (secret garden edition)

A: do you know what time it is?
R: one three
A: no, it's bed time
R: no way, I not.

"Nap lap" - asking for a napkin for her lap

"Sissy ornery"

"GO SLEEP" - when CJ cries before a nap

"Bwaasaas" - Bless you

"Shesheet" - Horsey

"RAINBOW!!!" - Any time she spies sprinkles

Reagan has developed an awful fake laugh, it's bad and she loves it.

Reagan has learned how to countdown from 10, thanks to the show 'Chopped'.

She loves to "build a snowman" with the down comforter on our bed.

Reagan is full of energy! She loves to chat and is talking from sun up to sun down.

Seven Months

Dear Carter J,

Seven months young. The days are flying by and you're getting stronger and faster by the minute! This month you started crawling and pulling yourself up on furniture/legs/anything. You are getting to be pretty mischievous, and are drawn to all things that are "no-no's". Light cords are a favorite, as well as dirty shoes and remotes/phones.

You love to squeal and scream, you and Reagan have screaming matches to see who can be the loudest or most high pitched. You of course giggle and laugh in between screams. I of course cringe and plug my ears because you two are LOUD!

Still no little teeth poking through, but over the last two weeks you have been fussier and have started a little sleep regression. I am not a fan. I keep hoping that you will have a tooth pop up but no such luck. If your anything like your sister you won't be getting any teeth for a while.

You have done so great eating this month! You love yogurt and will gobble up basically anything we put in front of you. Meal times take longer than they should because you are so dang distracted, don't want to miss out on anything! You have started taking a bottle less throughout the day, and when I do give you one you rarely finish it. I think it's safe to say you much prefer solid food. I have started feeding you less purees, and more off our plate. Giving you tiny pieces or just grinding up a mixture in the food processor.

I just went through your clothes and packed up anything smaller than 12 months. You are such a long baby, I can't believe how fast you have grown out of your clothes! I am so excited to get you into some footed pj's this Fall! There is nothing sweeter than a baby in soft little jam jams.

With the cooler weather this month, we've been taking more walks in the double stroller. You seem to tolerate it well enough, but I think when we get to the park you wish you could jump out and slide down the slide like Reagan. Next year my sweet girl. You and Reagan always end up holding hands, which starts out as her pinning your hand down so you can't pull her hair. But I'll take it either way.

I know I keep saying it, but one of these days I'm going to move you into your own crib instead of the mini crib in our room. One of these days.... but for now, you still nap and sleep in with us. I guess I'm waiting until you get back to your solid sleeping schedule. Waking me up at 3am is one thing, waking up Reagan would be a complete different story - one that ends with a grumpy mom and a not so happily ever after.

I'm taking bets on when you will start walking. Way too soon is obviously the answer.

I love you peanut.

XOXO,

Momma

Labor day Farm Fun!

Us girls spent the day with our favorite Papa, we enjoyed some perfect weather and picked lots of fruit!!

Oh yeah, and CJ ate lots of grass.

After picking peaches, Papa made Reagy a little peach a la mode for lunch. A happy camper for sure!

We came home with 20 lbs of peaches and 20 lbs of grapes! Every time I cut up a peach for us to snack on Reagan says "Papa make peaches!" it's the sweetest thing. I was able to freeze the majority of the peaches and made a cobbler (that I may have had two helpings of) before the fruit flies took over the kitchen.

I'm making a fine batch of homemade wine with the grapes.

Reagan loved helping de-stem them and throw them in the bucket. I think she ate more than she tossed in the bucket however.

That one time Cody and I had a date

It's August, and Cody and I have been on a grand total of t-w-o dates so far this year. Major sad face.

Grandma Karen was kind enough to babysit for us while we snuck out for some diaper free time.

And what kind of mother would I be if I didn't snap a few pictures before we left.

Thanks Grandma Karen!!
