1 hour Photo - circa 2015

And you caught me on a good day because it hasn't even been an hour yet since I snapped these.

Sometimes I grab my camera during the best moments and snap - snap - snap, and then they sit on my memory card for weeks. Tonight, while migrating into the bedroom I laid Lincoln down on the bed for a moment so I could continue our nightly routine and I realized how perfect the late evening light looked on him streaming in the window.

So I grabbed my camera.

Most of you know, or probably could have guessed, by our timing, that Lincoln was a bit of a surprise to us. But since the day he was born I knew, he was no surprise. He was absolutely and perfectly planned. This boy. Oh this boy, I can't even put into words what he has done to my heart.

He's beautiful, and he is the most perfect addition to our little family.

We love you Lincoln,

Life Lately // Birthday edition

So, life lately has been spent in the slow lane. And I won't even complain about it. Cody and I have been getting used to this family of five thing at our own pace and it has been great.

We ventured out a few weeks ago for a family lunch date.

Our Baby Lincoln passed on the enchiladas and decided to siesta. No Problemo Senor!

And theeeeen, I had my first solo trip with all three kids. Reagan had her three year well check and Lincoln had his two month. so the four of us headed out for the doctors office. It went basically good, the only complaint from me is more of how inconvenient that dumb office is.

I have no clue what to do with this little dude's hair! The mohawk is my go to, brushed to the side makes him look like a total dweeb, so straight up it goes. Since either of the girls have yet to have a haircut I feel totally out of my league in the hair game.

And I'm not one that you would typically call sentimental, but last year I got my Nana's handmedown canning equipment, and this year as I've been canning, pickling, and jamming I can't help but think about all the years she did the same for her family.

Oh and did someone say BIRTHDAY!?
I have been so spoiled this year, Cody seems to dish out surprise after surprise. I've gotten to celebrate the last couple of days by sleeping in, hiding from the kids and sewing, and of course eating all my favorite foods.

I have been showered with latte's, champagne, wine, expensive cheese, and HBO shows. What more could a 29 year old woman ask for?!

and for lunch we feasted on taco truck delights like Kings!

Birthday Farm Visit!

As a child, I celebrated many birthdays at Nana and Papa's farm, so as this years birthday rolls around I thought a family farm visit would suit my fancy!

And it did just that.

I had told the girls the night before our visit, that they were going to get to ride the pony. They were both SO excited! And lets be honest, so was I, I've been waiting for this day since they were born. Reagan and Carter skip around the house yelling "yeehaw" everyday pretending to ride horses, so I figured the real deal would put them over the moon. I was basically wrong.

Carter, in true Carter fashion, warmed up to the little pony after holding his purple necklace for a little bit.

And was even brave enough to climb into the saddle...for all of 10 seconds.

Hey, that's enough time to get a few good pictures.

Reagan decided to sit this pony sitting out.

Although she did finally decide that giving him a little nose pet was a good idea.

Afterwards, the girls ran around and competed to see who could get the filthiest the fastest.

Carter won. As per usual.

Lincoln won the best baby award for the fourth outing in a row.

And Carter let us know how she feels in her heart about family photos.

Unless you bribe her with a peanut butter cookie.

And here we are, going hard in that family portrait game.

It was a fantastic trip. The car ride was beautifully uneventful, and the girls were worn O U T, it's always a special treat when you can toss some mac n cheese their way and tuck them in for an early bedtime.

Sharing is Caring

The new favorite thing to do around here is for Reagan to feed Carter her food...

It leads to more than normal crumbs on the floor, but less food being wasted so... I'll take it.

Two Months

Oh sweet boy,

Growing, smiling, loving. You have been so amazing this month, in fact, I'm convinced you are the best baby ever.

You are a great eater, you sleep through the night, and the only time you cry is in your car seat.

You love baths, being swaddled and you're a grade A snuggler.

We love you so much Baby Lincoln. Thanks for choosing us.

Dear Lincoln

Dear Linky boy,
This girl loves you hard. HARD.

If you're in sight, Carter is by your side. Petting you, kissing you, squeezing you...

I can't wait to watch your bond grow over the years.

I know that you will always be able to count on Carter, she's tough, fun and wild. I think she will be right up your ally.

Either that or you will be the water to her oil.

But I can't wait to find out.

The Girls

Oh these girls.

They are both at the 'pushing the limits' stage, and I am constantly reminding myself to choose my battles.

As Carter rips page after page out of the coloring book and gives me that side eye look that says, "does she see me? does she see what I'm doing? I'm doing something bad, does she see?" while I nurse Lincoln I secretly smile inside and pretend not to notice. Then when she's done I say, alright girls lets pick up your mess.

Because if I don't, and I bark "Carter don't do that. Stop. CJ STOP!" it does zero good, and instead of the 'does she see me' it's the "what are you going to do about it?" look.

Carter has gotten a few new teeth, including a nice set of molars. Teething puts us through the ringer.
Speaking of teeth, CJ sinks hers into Reagan quite a bit. Poor Reagan.

Carter is such a little chatty bug, we love when she says "snowball", "spicy", and says "yeehaw" instead of horse.

Carter has also been known to be an apple thief if they are left within reach.

Some of Reagan's latest funnies:

driving past the RV dealership : ''oh man, I want to go on ca-cashion"

passing a truck towing a boat : "MooooooM I just want that boat"
Yeah me too kid.

"Horn! Horn!"

Cody: "son of a...!"
Reagan: "bitch"

They both love their brother, sometimes a little too hard.

Reagan is very excited to start school this Fall // I am very excited too.
