A birthday eve walk

Tonight after I put the kids to bed, I took a quiet walk around the homestead. Tomorrow I turn 30, the voices say "that's old!", but it's not. So quiet down voices.

Goodnight 20's.

Photo Dump & Quick Life Update

We have been running in high gear all month, between chores and projects we seem to be busy from sun up to sun down.

Everyone and  everything is growing like crazy. The kids, the puppy the chicks...the plants the trees...the to do list... All of it.

But we are feeling so accomplished, and I know come rainy Fall we will have had a great sunny Summer.

We are scheduled to harvest our first round of meat chickens mid August, I'm thinking we should try to get another batch before Summer is over. The laying hens wont start laying eggs until early next Spring maybe late Winter if we're lucky. And the six guineas are growing like crazy and will probably be free ranging by late Fall.

The fruit trees are in full...fruit... So far we've had cherry harvest, made 7qts of pie filling. And nectarine harvest, made a super yummy crisp and two batches of freezer jam. Still to come is peaches, plums and pears, also a BOAT load of apples and walnuts. We have four apple trees that are absolutely loaded, I plan on putting a sign out at the road to see of we can unload some apples on others so they don't just go to waste. I can totally picture the girls maning a little fruit stand in the driveway.

We've been busy cleaning the property up, burning lots of debris, pulling weeds, painting fences, restoring the chicken coop, building a chicken tractor....

We are scheduled to get our new kitchen cabinets next week, so our focus will shift to inside stuff as we get the kitchen ready for them and then installing our countertops and getting everything unpacked (finally). Can't wait!

This is F O U R

This year Reagan picked a Strawberry Shortcake birthday party, we sat down and ordered her balloons and she picked out that cute hat.

We were surrounded by family, had lots of food and of course everyone helped out around the property. Nana and Shawn even built Reagan her dream swing set, it was such a great weekend.

Summer Lovin

Guess we can consider this a throwback post now that the pictures are almost a month old.
While on the West side for my brothers wedding (post still to come) us girls had a pool day. Cody was working and Shawn went crabbing, so Mom, the girls and I played in the sunshine.

Dog Days of Summer

All the apologies for the picture heavy post, but I just couldn't decide which ones to cut.

The girls have been having so much fun outside. All day. Every day. Mud pies are usually on the menu, and baths are close to follow.

So happy these girls get to live this life.
